  "Miles Away From America" is an album by folk collective The Happening, featuring Simone White on lead vocals and acoustic guitar.
  
  The album was recorded in 2013 in Wiltshire, UK, and an exclusive vinyl pressing of 100 copies will be released in April 2023 on Fetch Happened Records to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the recording sessions.
  
  "I love making music for films but I’ve never been great at doing it for other directors. As an artist, I just kind of want it to sound how I like it, and that’s where The Happening all began. We compose Film scores for movies that don’t exist, just for our own musical pleasure. For each album I come up with a theme and invite the most genius musicians I know to come to a beautiful location and shut out the rest of the world for a week where we improvise a bunch of original pieces, usually only played once, piecing together a musical story scene by scene with exquisite singers and players all in love with their instruments. These are artists who are so talented that the moment they enter the song, every note they play and every space they leave is just heart-burstingly perfect to me. When it came to our third Happening album, the theme I wanted to explore was Americana, hub caps, jukeboxes, trailer parks, wilderness and a certain gentle chaos like ‘In a Silent Way’ by Miles Davis. That was our starting point at least. The first genius artist that I felt had to be invited straight away was my friend and uniquely haunting and atmospheric singer/songwriter Simone White. Also on the guest list were my central group of musical magicians, Dave Randall, Alex Forster, Simone Giuliani, Renaud Gabriel-Pion as well as Matt Webb, Jed Brecher and my wonderful eldest daughter India Rose singing some dreamy backing vocals with us. Another old pal, photographer Sam Pelly lent us his beautiful old priory house deep in the Somerset countryside which we filled with instruments and leads and mechanics and delicious food, and together we improvised our story of ghosts and heartbreaks and rain and echoes of the blues though we were so many miles away from America." – Jamie Catto ... more
